Earlier this month I had the privilege to be part of the Flashes of Hope team of 6 photographers that worked with about 120 kids at Camp Rainbow in Prescott, Arizona . Flashes of Hope, is a national non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating positive and uplifting portraits of kids fighting cancer and other life threatening illnesses. The Phoenix Chapter is under the leadership of Lisa O'Brien and Carie Frabotta. Lisa and Carie are two of many volunteers that coordinate monthlyportrait sessions throughout the year. In addition to CampRainbow, Flashes of Hope provides monthly portrait sessions for kids at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. During the July photo session I assisted Keith Pitts a native New Yorker who is quickly becoming one of Phoenix's premier wedding and kids photographer. The photo sessions at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and CampRainbow made me appreciate what I have. These kids may not know this; but they did have a strong impact on me. They provided me with a great sense of hope and an attitude that clearly says: "live every day to the fullest, stop complaining, enjoy what you have and love those around you".
